Design of a gun

Spring powered air guns are designed with a mainspring inside a piston, supported by cylinders. These are often called “springers” due to the compact spring mechanism that drives the piston forward.
The cocking of the gun can be done in two ways: by breaking the barrel or by using a cocking lever. Once cocked, the spring gets compressed and stores energy.
When the trigger is pulled, the spring releases, pushing the piston forward. This creates compressed air that propels the pellet toward the target. This quick release gives spring guns their distinct shooting behavior.
The average life of a spring is around 1000 shots in a good quality rifle. After this, the spring may require replacement to maintain performance.
One noticeable drawback is recoil, which can affect accuracy. In spring powered guns, the movement of the spring and piston creates internal motion that can slightly disturb the shot.
Holding the gun properly plays a key role here. A very tight grip can interfere with recoil movement and reduce accuracy. A softer, controlled hold usually gives better results.
